DescriptionThe South Canterbury Historical Society established the original South Canterbury Museum in Timaru in 1941, following the bequest of land and buildings by TD Burnett, a local runholder and Member of Parliament. The Society built up the collections and oversaw the building of Pioneer Hall in 1966. Today the museum is owned and administered by the Timaru District Council, with continued support from the Historical Society.Geo AddressNew ZealandSubjectAssociations and ClubsEarly Settlers
