The Timaru Herald
The Timaru Herald was first published in 1864. It was originally a weekly publication but moved to bi-weekly publication in 1866, before becoming a daily publication in the 1870s.
The Timaru Library holds a near complete set of The Timaru Herald from 1864 - to the present day. All volumes from 1864-1945 have been fully digitised and can be accessed and searched online via the National Library's Papers Past website.
We are in the process of digitising the Library’s collection of historical newspaper clippings. These are on a wide range of subjects dating from the 1950s onwards, and can be accessed here: The Newspaper Clippings Collection
