DescriptionScottish immigrant Allan Mclean owned the Waikākahi Estate in the Waimate District of New Zealand. It was one of South Canterbury's largest and most productive properties. In the 1890s it was purchased by the government and divided into over 130 farms which were allocated to settlers by ballot.
The Aoraki Heritage Collection holds several books relating to the history of the district. Please contact us for more information.
