DescriptionSalisbury is a rural district located south‑west of Timaru, near Beaconsfield Road and the Timaru–Pareora Highway, and bordering the neighbouring rural areas of Pareora West and Kingsdown. The area was originally part of The Levels run, owned by early settlers the Rhodes brothers. After it was discovered they held more land than permitted under their licences, land between Saltwater Creek and the Pareora River—extending towards Mt Horrible—was transferred to James King, who established Otipua Station. In 1862, Thomas King (unrelated to James) arrived at Otipua after walking from South Otago and later acquired some of the most valuable leasehold land between Timaru and the Pareora River. This land became known as Kingsdown Estate, portions of which, including 29 sections at Salisbury, were subdivided in 1876.Geolocation[1] Geo Address7972, New Zealand
