Mt Nessing

DescriptionThe farming districts of Mount Nessing and the Chamberlain Settlement are located north-west of Timaru and south of Fairlie and surround the town of Albury in the Mackenzie District. Opawa and Mount Nessing runs were taken up in 1855. In 1902 Opawa was subdivided by the government and divided into 23 sections. When subdivided the settlement was called Chamberlain. In 1913 Mt Nessing was subdivided by the government, but unlike Opawa, Mt. Nessing retained the original name of the station (see 'History of Mount Nessing and Chamberlain' by M.R.
