The view from Mt John provides stunning 360 degree views over Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, which is the largest dark sky reserve in the world.

University of Canterbury Mt John Observatory is located here. It is a world-renowned astronomical centre and home to New Zealand's largest telescope.
