This was a primary school for girls and junior boys. The older boys (standards 2 to 6) were taught at the Marist Brothers School on Browne Street.

In 1985 Sacred Heart Parish School and Marist Brothers School merged on the the Marist School site. The school is now known as Sacred Heart School. (Information from https://mercyschools.org.nz/)
