DescriptionŌrāri Gorge Station is situated approximately ten minutes north of the town of Geraldine, in South Canterbury, New Zealand. It is just south of the Rangitata River.
Ōrāri Gorge Station and Mt Peel Station were the first sheep stations in Canterbury. They were established jointly in 1855 by Charles Tripp and John Barton Arundel Acland when they were granted an extensive pastoral lease in South Canterbury. In 1861 the partnership came to an amicable end with Charles Tripp taking over Ōrāri Gorge Station and Acland remaining at Mount Peel.
