Alternative NameŌhauDescriptionLake Ōhau is an alpine lake situated in the Mackenzie Basin and fed by the Hopkins and Dobson rivers into it's northern end. It is considered part of the Waitaki District (outside of South Canterbury). The western boundary of the Mackenzie District (and hence South Canterbury) runs along the eastern shore of Lake Ōhau and down the Ōhau River to Lake Ruataniwha. Lake Ōhau is part of the Waitaki Hydro Electric Scheme, with power stations Ōhau A, B and C situated between Lake Ōhau and Lake Benmore.
